Join this club to take part in an individual chess league. The club will not play in inter-club matches. It is purely to organise a league internally for individual club members.

Format:

The Fast League is a 1-day no vacation event played over 8 weeks.

The Chilled League is a 3-day vacation allowed event. The league season ends when all games are complete.

Each league split into Divisions. There are 6 players in each Division. The fast League has 15 Divisions. The Chilled League has 10 Divisions.

There is one match ongoing per opponent. So expect to have 5 matches ongoing to begin with, and to complete 10 games by the end of the season.

The Fast league season begins when 90 players have accepted their tournament invite.

The 60-player Chilled league begins when all 6 players in your division have accepted their tournament invite.

League standings:

The 1, 0.5, 0 point system awarded by chess.com in each division can be ignored. Final standings will be determined as follows:

Win: 3 points

Draw: 1 point

Loss: 0 points

Loss by timeout: -1 point

In the Fast league, for any games which have not been completed by the end of the season, the player who has the quicker average move speed in that match will gain 3 points. The player with the slower average move speed will be awarded 0 points.

Tie-breakers:

1. Games against tied opponent

2. Game against tied opponent won in fewest moves

3. Match won that season in fewest moves

4. Coin toss

At the end of the season, there will be promotions and relegations between the divisions. The top 2 players move up, the 3rd and 4th placed players stay in the same division. Players finishing 5th and 6th move down to the lower division.

To play:

Go to the forum and register for the league you would like to play in. When the previous season has finished and 90 players have registered, you will be sent an invite for a chess.com tournament. Accept the invite and enjoy the games!

If you did not play in the previous season, the division you are assigned to will depend on your earlier league position, your Daily Chess Elo, and where there are gaps in registration.

Taking a break:

You don't have to play every season. You can take a break and re-join in a future season.
